Real Love Stories: Falling in love on the Coast

Falling in Love

Falling in LoveComing from Pittsburgh to the east coast to pursue an education at North Carolina A&T State University, Michael also decided to pursue a southern girl who had caught his eye. After a lengthy courtship, they became engaged and decided to marry in the Fall of the year.

The two had dreams of a destination wedding and during the planning stages, realized that Kristin’s home, Charleston, SC was indeed a destination site for many couples. They soon chose Charleston with its many beaches for their destination wedding. The first order of business in the planning stage for this couple was to choose a color scheme and a theme that would flow with their October wedding date. They decided to use the phrase “Falling in love on the Coast” as their theme with an array of fall colors. The tone was set from the onset with a uniquely designed tri-folded invitation of fall hues and details beneath the couple’s engagement portrait locked inside with a leaf shaped closure.

Additional ideas were expressed to their most creative desktop publisher. The concept of complimentary favor boxes, place cards and a specially designed maple leaf shaped program booklet all of which tastefully represented their theme of “Falling in love on the Coast” came to life. Tables covered with terracotta cloths and accented with brown, were nestled in a cozy beach house amidst candle lights, flowers and leaves to depict the fall of the year.

The Bride stood in her ivory and pewter Maggie Sottero corset, strapless gown with a sweetheart neckline. The empire waist was decorated with Swarovski crystals, bugle beads, twist beads, seed beads, and sequins. The skirt featured a sweep train. Along with her, stood attendants wearing the color of sienna in Jim Hejlm dresses of their choosing. The Groom stood out in his ivory tuxedo and soft gold vest and tie, while his groomsmen wore brown tuxedos accented with the matching soft gold tie. A handsome bunch they turned out to be.

The couple chose to take their theme a little further in the blending of the brown and ivory sand ceremony. Following the ceremony which concluded with them ” jumping the broom” the couple along with the wedding party chose to leave the coziness of the beach house and venture out on the beach. There, a most enthusiastic photographer captured exactly what Kristin and Michael had hoped to portray, a scene of love on the coast
