4 Things Not to Splurge on For Your Wedding

When it comes to your wedding day, the initial impulse is to make it as special and extravagant as you can possibly make it. This is a dangerous mindset, however, because as you are planning your special day, you can easily run over your budget and have to skimp in areas that you really do not want to. That is why you should know what is worth spending the extra money on and what you should get at a cheaper price.

1) Music

This is a largely debated choice, what sort of music should you have at your reception? The decision really comes down to whether you want a band, a DJ, or both. However, while it is your special day, you want your guests to have an enjoyable time as well. This means catering to a wide variety of musical tastes. If you get a band you will not only spend more money you will be limited in your song choices as a band will only know how to play so much, whereas if you go with a DJ you will have a much more eclectic choice of music. That does not mean you can’t make your own playlist and give that to the DJ, but it does allow your guest to make requests.

2) Linens and Table Coverings

As with the tables, you also do not need to spend a small fortune on linens. Just like the tables, the linens will be covered with centerpieces and place settings and therefore, attention will not be on the coverings themselves. Of course, you don’t want to get plastic tablecloths and you want them to match your overall theme or color choices, but you do not need to spend hundreds and hundreds of dollars getting a fine material when simple cotton or linen will do.

3) Flatware

Your table settings will be something that people notice, but what they won’t be paying close attention to is the silverware. You don’t want to give your guests plastic, but there is no need for a silver or gold plated for either. Instead, opt for a stainless steel with a nice pattern and spend the extra money on the china itself.

4) Tables

Since you are going to be covering your tables with tablecloths, centerpieces, and place settings anyway, there is no need to go crazy on your banquet tables. There are plenty of affordable options for banquet tables that will not require you to skimp on other offerings at your wedding.
